They Say I Say Table of Contents

For Thursday, look at the table of contents to They Say I Say. If you haven't been able to buy the book yet, you can find the table of contents at this link.

Based on our free writing, pick a section that relates to your interests and then pick two articles from that section you might like to read. You can browse or start reading but you can also just go by the titles.

If none of the sections relate to your interests, write a question that describes some of what you want to learn about. Try to make it a question that can't be answered by a simple google search. We'll try to find articles to relate to these questions.

In the comments, give the section and article titles and a sentence or two about why you picked them, or write the question we will look for articles to answer.

  1. I would like this two articles which are "Steven Johnson, Watching TV Makes You Smarter" and "Tom Bissell, Extra Lives: Why Video Games Matter." For me, these articles are related with children's future, I want to know how it helps and effects children. However, I can learn the experience from the authors for teaching my son.

  5. The two articles that relate to my interest are "Thinking outside the idiot box" Dana Stevens and Watching tv makes you smarter Steven Johnson. I decided to pick these two articles because they both caught my attention. My sister always told me i used to think like an idiot when i was a child so that's one reason i decided to pick that article and i havent read both yet but when i do i could see how they both relate somehow.

  6. The two articles i am actually interested in is both "Extra Lives: Why video games are good matter", Tom Bissell and "Watching T.V makes you smarter", Steven Johnson. I chose The video game article because it is actually a part of my life for fun and creativity and when being social with my friends when we play together. The T.V. article caught my attention because i only watch tv for news and when i am really interested in a show and many people say watching tv is bad so i would want to see what Steven Johnson has to say about it.

  7. I would like to read "Thinking Outside the Idiot Box" by Dana Stevens under the section "IS POP CULTURE ACTUALLY GOOD FOR YOU?" This article interest me beacuse this phrase is very common and is evident that society tend not to think outside the box which I think is stopping the society to grow. I would also like to read "American Dream: Dead, Alive, or on Hold?" by Brandon King. I would like to know Brandon King's opinion on the "American Dream" and why is it "dead, or on hold"?
